#4 – Matilda Ptilotus
If you like to grow flowers for cutting, this new Ptilotus is a must-have, and it is one of our top 2025 new plants. Its unique, feathery plumes last a good two weeks in a vase when they are cut fresh, or they can be hung and dried as an everlasting cut flower. New buds open a silvery color, then develop into soft pink, silky-textured flowers on tall, reddish stems. If using this plant in containers, plan on using it as your tall “thriller” element. It is a sun-loving annual that thrives in heat and tolerates drought.
Annual, 20-32” tall x 12-24” spread, full sun, low water requirements once established, heat tolerant, pollinator-friendly.
